Networking Chair

John Alford

John helps SIPS members network more efficiently via legal communities in the mid-Atlantic region.  He grew up in Alabama and attended college in Colorado. William and Mary interested him because he wanted to find a blend between the two states he had come to love. Luckily, his intuition proved correct and Virginia has shown itself a  true mix of traditional mannerisms and progressive attitudes.  John’s interest in intellectual property stems from a long history with technology. Since an early age, he has been working closely with computers and the Internet. These interactions led to a familiarity that will allow him to effectively unite my passions:  the law and technology. At this point, John is extremely interested in working within technology transactions or privacy concerns. The former is an opportunity to help promote and protect new, innovative ideas; the latter is a chance to explore how life in cyberspace simply does not map one-to-one with the brick-and-mortar world in people’s mind.  John can be reached at jralford.

Director of External Relations

Jason C. Williams

Jason handles partnerships with other law schools around the country for events and activities and helps raise money through alumni and local law firms.  He is from San Jose, California. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, located outside of Albany, NY –where he received his bachelors in Electrical Engineering. During college, he was actively involved in NSBE, Circle-K, and the school newspaper. After graduation, he moved to Boston where he worked at a large engineering company.  This job required him to spend a significant amount of time in Thailand, Japan, Germany, London and Singapore. It is there he continued to develop his love for various cultures as well as helping others.  While in law school, Jason sits on the executive boards of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA), Student Intellectual Property Society as well as the Graduate Housing Complex Association. After law school, Jason hopes to practice intellectual property –specifically patent law. In his spare time, Jason likes to read, play sports, and play chess. Jason can be reached at jcwilliams.
